Join us for an overview of the literature of England during the Renaissance and the Neoclassical period (1485-1784 AD). We will read excerpts from greats such as Edmund Spenser, George Herbert, John Bunyan, Alexander Pope, Samuel Johnson, and more. We will also read a Shakespeare play, Paradise Lost, and other works in their entirety. Exploring these works will also give us a chance to cover a bit of the history, art, and music of the time period, as well as applicable literary terms. The class is discussion-based, so students should come prepared, having read the assignment for the week.

TEACHER BIO
Karina Worlton
Karina has been an avid reader for as long as she can remember, so majoring (and minoring!) in English at BYU was the obvious option. After graduating, Karina became a stay-at-home mom, raising 5 sons. She homeschooled them up to fifth grade, while working off and on as a writer for the Midvalley Eagle, content editor for a scrapbooking website, proofreader for a monthly scrapbook kit newsletter, paper grader for a high school English teacher, and more. She was an early-morning seminary teacher in Illinois for five years, and loves working with youth.
