Storybook Journeys

Our read-aloud story class offers an engaging and interactive learning experience. Each class includes a lively read-aloud session, where the teacher brings the best stories to life. Themes will be introduced through the stories, to help children learn how to discuss books, and to see the value of books beyond entertainment. Each week, the teacher will emphasize a different part of speech and help the children identify these parts in a book. Children will set goals for their at-home reading, and will be invited to read books similar to the ones read in class. Our read-aloud story class not only fosters a love for reading but also provides a solid foundation for future literacy development.
Animal Adventures

In this engaging class, each week will spotlight a new fascinating creature. Students will delve into fundamental aspects of each animal, including its habitat, diet, shelter, predators, and defense mechanisms. Game Masters

Learning and fun can go hand in hand. In this class, students will be able to learn about many different subjects while also strengthening their communication, cooperation and social skills. Games are all in-person, not online!
In each week of this class, students will choose games to play according to the educational subject of the week. Subjects may include Language Arts, Math, History, Geography, Science, Art, Music, Logic and more!
In addition to game play, students will use our game tracker to rate the games for educational value, fun and ease of play. They will use this information to create game reviews such as might be found on Amazon or another website.

World Wanderers

In this class students will become familiar with maps and geography terms as well as explore people from a variety of countries with their customs, cultures, traditions, and even occasionally food. Over the course of the year we will “visit” each of the habitable continents and spend time in a few countries from each. Student binders will hold maps and worksheets from the course. Each semester they will have an opportunity to do a country project that they share with the class.
Art Jr.

In this class, we will breathe life into history, through research, Socratic discussions and zoom interviews. Students will learn why America is exceptional and has been sought after by refugees for so many decades. They will also learn what it takes to preserve a country through text and presentations from Hillsdale College, Rand Paul’s Capitalism, Socialism and Arguments for Liberty and the history book Conceived in Liberty.

Brick Masters

The idea for this class is based on the TV series LEGO Masters in which teams compete to create the best LEGO build of the week. Teams not only need to build something fantastic based on the parameters and topic set by the teacher of the class, but they also must incorporate a great story as well. Builders will have opportunity to tell classmates about their builds, give positive peer feedback and use their creative skills and available LEGO pieces to design and collaborate with others. There is also optional homework with this class.
MATERIALS: We are accepting LEGO brick donations! If you are cleaning out your supplies, considering donating to iCreate.
Art 12+

Art 12+ delves into the finer points of several different art mediums, with a focus on graphite pencils and acrylic painting. We’ll explore a variety of fascinating art concepts such as color theory, one-line drawings, design, scale paintings, and negative space. This class will stretch the imagination as we learn new skills and create awesome art!
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Each student will need to bring their own set of paintbrushes.
British Literature
CATEGORY: Language Arts

Join us for an overview of the literature of England during the Renaissance and the Neoclassical period (1485-1784 AD). We will read excerpts from greats such as Edmund Spenser, George Herbert, John Bunyan, Alexander Pope, Samuel Johnson, and more. We will also read two Shakespeare plays, Utopia, Gulliver's Travels, and The Spanish Tragedy in their entirety. Exploring these works will also give us a chance to cover a bit of the history, art, and music of the time period, as well as applicable literary terms. The class is discussion-based, so students should come prepared, having read the assignment for the week.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: The British Tradition II (provided), Hamlet, Twelfth Night, Gulliver's Travels, Utopia, The Spanish Tragedy. You will be provided with links to the books that you can purchase or read online, or you can check them out at the library.

Wordsmith Studio

During this time period students can get personalized help making progress on writing assignments they have for other classes or that they are doing for fun. If they don't have anything they are currently working on, the teacher will draw from topics in our Write of Passage online class. The teacher will be available to help students and give them input throughout the writing process. If the student is already in the online class because they are a Tuesday morning student, they can continue to work on those lessons. If the student is not already in the Write of Passage online class and would like to be, a generous discount will be included with this class.

Fall semester will focus on theater essentials, ending with a showcase. Winter semester will have a complete production. ALSO, Winter semester will have tech week rehearsals and performances that will be outside of the Thursday 1-3 timeframe.
For full-time T/TH students that are NOT interested in taking the stage, we have plenty of other options to do, including creating things for marketing and props, making connections, and a lot more.
